TOWNE LAKE
CYPRESS, TX
Towne Lake is a master-planned community surrounding a 300-acre man-made lake, the fourth largest recreational lake in Greater Houston. Through design coordinated with engineers, all of the stormwater runoff on site is directed to lakes and is used to irrigate the public spaces. These lakes form the nucleus of a unique community, where extensive trails connect with the water and parks to let residents use alternate forms of transportation, such as boating and biking, making driving a secondary choice. The planners and landscape architects planned the community look and feel on the Texas Hill Country vernacular. Land has been shaped to create the hills and valleys, uncommon in Houston, which distinguish Towne Lake. Native Texas plantings differentiate the community from those with high maintenance formal landscapes.
Amenities at Towne Lake include more than 24 miles of trails, 23 neighborhood parks, 14 miles of shoreline, two fitness centers, and an award-winning Amenity Center. Connected trails, waterways, and scenic coves allow residents easy access to parks, marinas, and an amphitheater as well as to retailers, restaurants, and offices. The project has garnered recognition from several business organizations, including the Urban Land Institute. In 2016, it ranked among the top selling master planned communities in the nation.
