COOPERS ROW NORTH

SAN ANTONIO, TX

Cooper's Row North is a six-story mixed use residential building on the banks of the San Antonio River, the second phase of Cooper's Row Residences in the Pearl District. The site sits between Elmira Street and the river, one block north of the original Cooper's Row, where a new building had to meet the ground in one of the most closely watched pedestrian corridors in San Antonio.

Rialto Studio provided full landscape architectural services for the site, working directly with Oxbow Development Group. The scope addressed every condition between the building envelope and the public realm: pedestrian hardscape, site grading, planting and irrigation, lighting, walls and fencing, and the regrading of Elmira Street to resolve grade changes along the building's western edge. Tree preservation, Low Impact Development coordination with the San Antonio River Authority, and permitting through COSA, HDRC, and TDLR were integral to the project's delivery.

The work required sustained coordination with Pape Dawson Engineers on civil grading, stormwater, and utility infrastructure, and close alignment with the architectural and ownership teams to maintain a legible site language at the seam between private development and Pearl's public riverwalk. Rialto's ongoing work at Pearl also includes the adjacent Grove Hotel (Perlen House), where the firm serves as landscape architect to Kirksey Architecture.
